Cemetery Safety Notice about Northern Cemetery

All Memorials within Northern Cemetery are due to be surveyed. This is to determine stability and condition. Any memorial that is found to be unsafe will be carefully laid down to eliminate the risk. All deedholders of such memorials will be contacted and advised on the next course of action. Please ensure your contact details are up to date.

A headstone is the deedholder's responsibility. If you are the deedholder of a memorial which you know to be unsafe, please contact a stonemason for restorations/repairs to be carried out.

The works are carried out under a written directive by the Health and Safety Executive, and under the duties of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Occupiers Liability Act 1957, 1984 and The Local Authorities Cemetery Order 1977.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the administration office at bereavement.services@hullcc.gov.uk.
